Nine: a friendly custom tattoo studio in the heart of Brighton

New Venture for James Robinson

We wish the best of luck to James with his new venture as he is starting his own studio within the next couple of months.

James is still working at Nine until then, and we wish to confirm that all his clients bookings will be honoured either here at Nine or at his new premises.

He is still opening his diary to arrange consultations on the 1st February, although at this point, only a limited amount of consultations will be available on a first come, first served basis: potential clients that come to the studio will be given priority, telephone calls secondly, and emails when we are able to.

If you are unlucky and not able to secure a consultation at this time, we will take details and pass these on to James for him to liase with you at a later date.

James will also be working the Brighton Tattoo Convention on the 28th and 29th January, so do pop along and say hello.

First book project for Javier Betancourt & Jason June

Javier Betancourt’s and Jason June’s first project, Nunquam Dormio vol.I is a look at the work of over 30 international artists, including Ade from Nine.

“A Tattoo Household. Omertá is a tattoo arts and culture publishing house, founded by Javier Betancourt and Jason June. It focuses on showcasing the work of international talents in the tattoo community. As a group we plan on providing the world with a look into modern and classic tattooing, and the direction we believe it is heading. ”

Tattoo Art for Japan – Helping our Friends and Human Kind

Tattooists from around the globe, (including Ade), have donated original paintings to be sold at auction. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Japan relief fund.

The entire collection will be available for viewing at this years London Tattoo Convention – 23rd to 25th September and can also be viewed at

The paintings will be auctioned on Ebay and begins on the 23rd October, ending at 9pm, (21.00 Uhr) on the 30th of October.

A link will be available on the above website when the auction is live. All you will need to do is click on the thumbnail of painting you are interested in and you will be automatically redirected to the corresponding Ebay page.

Ade Working Brighton Tattoo Convention, (and his Blog Spot).

Ade will be working at the Brighton Tattoo Convention at the end of the month and is working on a first come first served basis, so if you want to jump ahead of his waiting list it’s a great chance to get some work from him – Traditional Japanese Tattoos only though, sorry!

Altered Opening Hours

Please note that for general enquiries, the studio opening hours have altered. We are now open from 11am – 5pm Tuesdays to Fridays, and 11am – 3pm Saturdays.

Olli Bery – Independent Photographer spends time at Nine

We were fortunate to meet Olli Bery, Independent Photographer, on his last trip to England. Olli spent time at Nine photographing Ade and Nige whilst they were working. Anna Mazas is planning to use the photos for a French tattoo book project, alongside submissions from other photographers, which will certainly project a unique difference from the usual cache of tattoo books found on many shelves.

Olli has also recently created his own production company called “Un Oiseau dans la Main”, (“A Bird in the Hand”).
